Legislation aimed at better protecting Delawareans against threats to cybersecurity and related data breaches has been signed into law. Rep. Miro, a co-sponsor of House Substitute 1 for House Bill 180, participated in the bill signing recently.

The provisions in the law represent the first updates in over a decade to address advances in cyber threats. The new law will require all companies doing business in Delaware to implement and maintain reasonable security to protect personal information.

The bill signing was held at the University of Delaware, which offers a Master's degree program in cybersecurity. In addition, UD's Small Business Development Center also trains small businesses to identify cybersecurity threats and protect their business and customer data.
